The Elecnor Foundation and the University of Deusto have renewed their collaboration agreement for the launch of the Elecnor Foundation – Deusto Business School Sustainability Classroom, an initiative that will take place on the Bilbao and San Sebastián campuses and will train 400 first-year Business Administration students in practical skills related to sustainability and business ethics.

The new agreement strengthens and expands a shared commitment to the practical training of new generations. The signing ceremony was attended by the rector of the University of Deusto, Juan José Etxeberria Sagastume, and the president of the Elecnor Foundation, Fernando Azaola Arteche. Also present were the Vice-Rector for Institutional Relations, María José Aranguren; the General Director of Deusto Business School Executive Education, Almudena Eizaguirre; and the Director of the Elecnor Foundation, Jorge Ballester.

Managing a chocolate milkshake company

The Sustainability Classroom will take place in 2026, within the course ‘Business and Sustainability’. The core of the initiative will be a gamification-based competition in which students will work in teams through a business simulator, The Triple Connection, which challenges them to manage a fictional chocolate milkshake company with social, environmental, and economic impact.

Students will have to make complex decisions based on the three key pillars of sustainability: People, Planet, and Prosperity. This dynamic reinforces learning through a practical, modern, and innovative experience and introduces key sustainability concepts from the first semester, generating a significant impact in terms of awareness.

A continuous collaborative track record

The collaboration between the Elecnor Foundation and the University of Deusto began in 2011 and has continued uninterruptedly. It emerged shortly after the creation of the Elecnor Foundation in 2008, on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Elecnor Group, and has since led to several joint initiatives in the Foundation’s strategic area of Training and Research.

The new agreement deepens this trajectory, reinforcing the intention to develop talent and promote responsible practices in the business sphere. For the Elecnor Foundation, sustainability is a fundamental pillar of its mission to contribute to societal progress and its commitment to the future of new generations. The Foundation is guided by principles such as sustainability, cooperation, and environmental protection.

The Elecnor Foundation firmly believes that the work carried out by companies and the projects they undertake must not be limited to the mere pursuit of economic profitability; they must also apply sustainability criteria that ensure greater social, environmental, and economic value in the long term.
