We care about the air you breathe

The Elecnor Foundation launches a pioneering initiative to prevent the spread and contagion of SARS-CoV-2

The Elecnor Foundation, together with the Ronald McDonald Children's Foundation, has launched "We care about the air you breathe", a project to treat the air inside the Ronald McDonald House in Madrid, which is located on the grounds of the Niño Jesús Children's University Hospital

The initiative revolves around the health and well-being of people, energy efficiency and the air quality of a building. To this end, it focuses on the indoor environmental quality of the House and will help in the prevention of the spread and contagion of SARS-CoV-2.

The aim is to improve air quality by eliminating pollutants harmful to the health of particularly vulnerable people living in this home. In this way, the aim is not only to provide comfort and health, but also to generate an environment with air that is renewed and clean of harmful particles.

What is a Ronald McDonald House?

Ronald McDonald Houses were created with the aim of becoming a "home away from home". A place that welcomes children who, together with their families, move away from their usual residence to be hospitalized or receive long-term medical treatment, in most cases as a result of cancer.

Experts, specialists and doctors assure that the Ronald McDonald Houses have a positive influence on the children's recovery.

The technology implemented in the "We care about the air you breathe" project has been chosen by the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) in the call for 'R&D and Investment Projects to address the health emergency declared by the COVID-19 disease'.

During its development, the project has taken into account the recommendations of international agencies and competent professional organisations with accredited experience such as the World Health Organisation (WHO), ASHRAE, CDC, REHVA and the Federation of Indoor Environmental Quality Associations (FEDECAI).

The Elecnor Foundation would like to thank the Maintenance Delegation of Dirección Centro for their work and involvement in the project and, especially, José Lozano, head of the technical office, for technically leading this initiative.
