Awarded the installation of the overhead line for the Basque high-speed train (AVE) with Elecnor’s participation

The joint venture formed by Elecnor Servicios y Proyectos, Syneox Rail, Electren (ACS Group), and Comsa has been awarded the contract to install the overhead line for the Basque Country’s high-speed rail connection to the national AVE network and the Atlantic Corridor, tendered by Adif, for an amount of €86.5 million.

The works include the installation of the high-voltage cable that will supply power to the trains from Vitoria to the section before Bilbao, and up to Astigarraga on the other side. The catenary will also be installed at train passing and parking points, as well as at junctions and bifurcations.

With this award, the electrification of the AVE network in the Basque Country, known as the Basque Y, begins — a strategic project that, after decades of delays, will progress over the next five years.

At Elecnor, we value the collaboration with the other participating companies and reaffirm our commitment to the development of high-quality railway infrastructure in Spain.
