Elecnor reinforces its commitment to preventing workplace accidents

Elecnor's pledge to an accident-free future is part of the spirit driving a group that has rigour, expertise and reliability in its DNA. Since its creation, occupational risk prevention has shaped the group's business activities with a very clear objective: zero accidents.

This goal of zero accidents is getting closer thanks to the data recorded in 2020, a year in which the company registered its best accident rates in Spain in its history. This is demonstrated by its Frequency Index, which has fallen to 3.5, compared to 4.1 the previous year (representing the number of workplace accidents per million hours worked). The Severity Index, an indicator that shows the severity of accidents by taking into account the number of lost workdays per thousand hours worked, has also decreased, falling to 0.15, compared to 0.20 in 2019.

In pursuit of this objective, Elecnor has dedicated special effort to prevention through training actions, site audits, and awareness campaigns. The latest global data available show that in 2020, 1,102 internal site audits and more than 75,000 safety inspections were carried out across the Group in this regard. Furthermore, more than 23,000 people participated in training activities to which more than 252,000 hours were dedicated.

In the effort to attract the best talent, Elecnor strives daily to create an attractive, motivating, and safe work environment in which professional progression is also encouraged. For this reason, more than 92% of the Group's workers are represented on health and safety committees, forums dedicated to key issues such as work procedures or protective equipment.

Within the framework of the corporate strategy and commitment to the prevention of workplace accidents, the accreditation by AENOR certifications corresponding to OHSAS 18001, a standard for occupational health and safety management that imposes the highest levels of excellence and rigor to offer the best service to our clients, working with loyalty, honesty, dedication, and safety, stands out. Likewise, Elecnor is working on the transition to the new ISO 45001 standard, the new global benchmark for occupational health and safety certification, a process that will culminate in 2021 with the transition of our system to the new standard.

In line with its firm commitment to achieving the goal of zero workplace accidents, Grupo Elecnor has continued to strengthen its investments in occupational risk prevention. In 2023, the company allocated 26 million euros to this area, consolidating its commitment to the safety of its professionals.

The effort has not stopped there. In 2024, Elecnor has significantly increased this investment, reaching 46 million euros allocated to accident prevention and, in 2025, that same investment in prevention grew to 62 million euros, reflecting the Group's conviction in this matter.
