Faro Farelo Wind Farm Complex. Galicia

Located in the provinces of Lugo and Pontevedra (Galicia), its installed power is 128 MW.

Made up of these four wind farms: Penas Grandes, Chantada, Monte Cabeza and Farelo. There is a total of 80 wind turbines.

Wind turbine technology: Tecno Alstom-Ecotécnia ECO-74 of 1.6 MW.

With an investment of 132 million euros, when opened in 2005, it was the largest wind farm complex throughout the whole of Europe and the first with a multi-megawatt machine in Galicia.

Important associated environmental actions, such as the implementation of a network of landscape lookouts.

It prevents yearly emissions of 90,000 tons of CO2, the main cause of climate change.

  • Location: Rodeiro (Pontevedra)
  • Power: 36.8 MW (23 wind turbines)
  • Start of operation: August 2005

Farelo Wind Farm

  • Location: Rodeiro, Agolada (Pontevedra) and Antas de Ulla (Lugo)
  • Power: 28.8 MW (18 wind turbines)
  • Start of operation: September 2005
